Hearing Aid Battery Life

Background

Our study compared three reputable brands of zinc air hearing aid batteries with Blamey & Saunders hearing aids:

  • ENR top (Siemens)
  • Rayovac Mercury Free
  • ZeniPower

We ran our digital hearing aids in a hearing aid test box, with wide-band input noise at 70 dB SPL.

The hearing aids were all configured with ADRO® amplification fitted to a moderate high frequency hearing loss.

Three models of hearing aid were used, each with a different sized battery. Battery sizes were 10, 312, and 13.

Results

Hearing aid battery life was similar across the three brands of batteries.

Conclusion

As a result of this study, we now use Rayovac hearing aid batteries in our hearing aids because they had the longest battery life. Mercury Free batteries have the additional benefit that they are also safer around children and pets, and environmentally friendly.
